Guwahati: Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the Vote-on-Account Budget for the year 2021-2022 for a few months on the floor of the Assam Assembly on the second day of the three-day State Assembly session.
While presenting the Budget Dr. Sarma announced that from Friday midnight the prices of petrol and diesel will be reduced by Rs. 5. The revised rate will come into effect from today midnight
Much to the relief to the people of the state government has decided to drop the prices of both Petrol and Diesel from February 13.
“Speaker sir, at the peak of COVID-19, we had levied additional cess on petrol, diesel and liquor. Now, the number of patients has reduced… I am grateful to my cabinet colleagues who agreed to my proposal this morning to rescind this additional cess. Hence, petrol and diesel will become cheaper by Rs 5 per litre with effect from midnight tonight, benefiting lakhs of consumers across Assam,” Dr. Sarma said in his speech.
Currently, the price of petrol in Guwahati stands at Rs 90.94 while that of diesel is at Rs 84.82.
The vote on account from April-July 2021 comes ahead of the State Assembly polls in the state. The three-day Assembly session will continue till February 13.
