Guwahati: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 12 presented the second day of the three-day State Assembly session.
Speaking at the session, Dr. Sarma announced that the government has decided to drop 25 percent cess on alcohol, which was imposed to meet healthcare expenses amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The state government has decided to drop the price of liquor from February 13.
Finance Minister Sarma made the announcement while presenting the vote on account for April-July 2021 in the State Assembly on Friday.
