Assam boy secures All India Rank-50 in National Defence Academy exam

Proud moment for Assam. 19 year old Ashim Das from Cachar district has brought laurels to the state by securing All India Rank-50 in the National Defence Academy (NDA) examinations held in April this year, results of which were declared on October 27.

With hardwork and dedication towards his goal, Ashim Das has cracked the examinations in his first attempt.

Speaking exclsuively to Northeast Live, Ashim Das said, “After seeing my results, it took me a few moments to believe that I had cleared the examination and secured All India Rank-50. I was overjoyed. I called my father and informed him about my result. That was the happiest moment, I ever had in my life.”

He said that he is yet to recieve the joining letter, but likely to join Army, Navy or Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy for training by December this year.

Ashim, who soon going to realise his dream of joining the defence forces said that he is looking forward to the day when, after three years, he will pass out from the Academy and will be commissioned into forces as officer.

He thanked all his teachers and faculties for shaping his life and making him capable of acheiveing his goal.

Ashim Das hails from Panchgram area of Cachar. He has completed his primary education from Cambridge High School Panchgram and Higher secondary education from Paragon Senior Secondary School Badarpur.

He has always had interest in aviation and space. From an early age, he had a desire to explore space. He is hopefull to be a member of the Gagan Yaan Mission 2.0 or 3.0 in the near future.

The written examination of NDA took place on April 16, and subsequently, selected candidates were invited for interviews by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence.

Out of 6 lakh candidates who appeared for the UPSC NDA and NA 1 2023 examination, 628 qualified.
