Assam boy gets full scholarship for PhD programme at University of Texas

Rishiraj Rajkhowa was selected for his PhD programme at University of Texas in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

GUWAHATI, March 8: Assam boy Rishiraj Rajkhowa has been admitted to the PhD programme at University of Texas, Austin, one of the top-10 engineering universities in the United States, in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Rishiraj will be specializing in Semiconductors and Quantum Materials, the foundation of all modern electronic devices, including smartphones, computers, and AI chips. His research will contribute to the development of next-generation electronic and quantum devices, pushing the boundaries of electronics and computing.

In recognition of his academic record and research potential, he has been awarded full funding for the entire duration of his PhD and has also been nominated for additional fellowships.

He is an alumni of BITS, Pilani, and completed M.Sc in Physics & BE in EEE.

Presently, he is a Junior research fellow under the guidance of Prof. Mandar M. Deshmukh, at TIFR Mumbai which is under the department of atomic energy.

He will be joining the PhD programme in August, 2025.

Rishiraj is the elder son of Mukunda Madhab Rajkhowa, GM (G)-ONGC and late Swapna Rajkhowa, and grandson of noted social activist and educationist of Titabor Late Sonadhar Rajkhowa.
