In a sensational incident, Goalpara BJP District Secretary Jonali Nath was found killed on Sunday night.
The body of the deceased BJP leader was recovered from National Highway No 17 near Shalpara, Krishnai.
According to sources, unidentified criminals killed her and dumped her body on the national highway before fleeing the scene. On Sunday night, people discovered the body, and they immediately alerted authorities.
Several injury marks were found on her body, indicating that she was savagely assaulted before her demise.
Reportedly, Nath was last seen on Sunday evening by locals at a hotel in the Islampur area.
Police have arrested the owner of a hotel in Islampur in connection with the mysterious murder of Jonali Nath.
Before her death, the BJP leader was talking to some people at the hotel in Islampur on Sunday evening.
According to sources, while having tea at the hotel, Nath received several unknown phone calls.
The hotel owner, Maqbool Hussain, has been arrested and is being questioned by the police.
