GUWAHATI, Oct 15: The Election Commission of India today (Oct 15) announced the schedule for by-polls in five assembly constituencies in Assam.
By-polls will be held in Bongaigaon, Sidli, Behali, Samaguri and Dholai on Nov 13 while counting of votes will take place on Nov 23.
While the date of issue of Gazette Notification is Oct 18, the last date for filing of nomination papers is Oct 25. The date of scrutiny of nomination papers is Oct 28 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is Oct 30.
By-polls in these five constituencies were necessitated after the incumbent legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections held earlier this year.
