Assam: Anomalies in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi alleged

GUWAHATI: A large-scale anomalies and corruption has been alleged in Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi 2020 in different parts of Assam though farmers of the state are severely hit by ongoing COVID-19lockdown. Assam Gorkha Students’ Union has raised serious allegation of anomalies in the scheme at Rongbong Gaon Panchayat under Golaghat district.

“Many genuine farmers are deprived of the benfit under the scheme. Even 5-6 members from a single family got money from PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Some even have government employees in their family,” said a functionary of Gorkha Students’ Union.

On the other hand, some farmers alleged that they had paid Rs. 100 to ward members.

“I paid Rs. 100 to the ward member. But I have not received any money under the government scheme,” said a farmer.

Corruption has been alleged in Batadrava, Dhing, Dalangghat and different panchayats of Nagaon district. The farmers alleged that the money under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has been misappropriated by creating fake bank accounts. They have also informed Nagaon deputy commissioner (DC) demanding appropriate investigation into the matter.
