Panic gripped central Assam’s Nagaon district after an explosion took place in the Kondoli firing range on Friday leaving four minors injuried.
Speaking to the media, Nagaon SP Nabaneet Mahanta informed that from their initial investigations they found that the blast was triggered by a smoke shell, which was lying on the field of the firing range.
The shell exploded when it was picked up by the minors, the SP informed.
The injured minors were immediately rushed to the Nagaon Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The firing range is used by personnel from different forces and a probe has been initiated as to whom the shell belonged to, the SP added.
As per inputs, the minors are residents of Kuhiyartoli and Pamtoli in Kondoli.
