Assam: 32-bed ICU functional at Barpeta Medical College

GUWAHATI: Amid spike in COVID-19 cases, a 32-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has started functioning from Friday at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta, informed Assam health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Sarma said in a tweet that the ventilator of the ICU is supported by PM Cares Fund (Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund).

Taking to Twitter, Dr Sarma writes, “Stepping up our #Covid19 management capabilities, I am glad to share that our 32-bed ICU at Barpeta Medical College, with ventilator supported by #PMCaresFunds, is being operationalized today.”

Earlier on Thursday, a 60-bed ICU became operational at Silchar Medical College and Hospital to fight against the spread of COVID-19.
