GOALPARA: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday visited Goalpara Civil Hospital and took health update of the three COVID19 positive patients admitted there.

Clearing doubts on COVID19 positive patients the minister said, “Let me tell you that not everyone infected with Coronavirus will be sick. Only 3% die of the disease. Of the 100 infected, around 20 need serious medical attention. Rest 80 look normal but the virus remains active inside them.”

“The remaining COVID19 positive are still termed patients as they have the virus inside them and can spread it to 100 others through close contact. They may look healthy from outside but they remain infected. So, virus positive does not require symptoms, and as per protocol, the individual has to be immediately rushed to the isolation ward of the hospital for treatment,” said Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
