The crackdown against cyber criminals continue in Assam. A team of Assam Police crime branch arrested at least 17 cyber criminals in Assam’s Morigaon district.
In an operation against cyber criminals in Assam, a team of crime branch arrested 17 cyber criminals from Moirabari and Lahorighat area.
Police recovered several Android mobile phones and PAN card.
As per inputs, arrested individuals were allegedly involved in a fraudulent scheme where they took loans in the names of foreigners using fake documents.
The identities of the apprehended cyber criminals have not been disclosed.
Last year, on December 12, around 29 suspected cyber criminals arrested during in Morigaon district.
The arrested individuals were allegedly involved in a range of cybercrimes, utilizing fake PAN and Aadhaar cards to extort substantial sums of money from individuals abroad.
Police recovered a cache of electronic devices from the suspects, including 90 Android mobile phones, iPhones, laptops, and several PAN and Aadhaar cards. Additionally, the seized items include passbooks, ATM cards, and 112 SIM cards, all believed to have been used in various cybercrime activities.
