Guwahati: Eleven students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Titabor in Jorhat district has been tested positive for COVID-19.
A worker of the school has also contracted the virus.
7 boarding students of the JNV School hostel had been initially detected for the virus a day ago.
Another five students had tested positive following another round of rigorous Covid tests which was conducted on all the students.
The infected students were then immediately isolated by the school administration.
They have been provided with all the required medical assistance and are being taken care of.
As a result of this outbreak, the JNV school administration has decided to halt the classes till the situation comes under control.
They have said that normal classes will resume again after the situation comes back to normalcy.
COVID-19 cases in Assam have also begun spiraling up. However, no omicron cases have been registered in the state as of now according to reports.
