Indian shooters made their mark on the third day of the 18th Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games with 16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary clinching the Gold in the 10m Air Pistol event while his compatriot Abhishek Verma bagged the bronze in the same event.

On the other hand, Sanjeev Rajput finished second to win the Silver in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Position event in shooting. China’s Hui Zicheng won the Gold in the event.

India also won another historic medal, a bronze in sepaktakraw, after the Indian men’s team lost to Thailand in the regu semifinal.

India are currently (till the filing of the report at 3:25pm) 6th in the medal tally with nine medals (3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronze medals).
Wrestler Divya Kakran went down 11-1 to Mongolia’s Sharkhuu Tumentsetseg in the women’s freestyle 68-kg-weight quarterfinal clash. She, however, is in contention for a bronze medal through repechage.
In the men’s doubles tennis event, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan entered the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 6-1 straight sets win over Thailand’s N Kadchapanan and Trongcharoenchaik.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of other political leaders and Bollywood celebrities took to the social media to congratulate the medal winners.
