GUWAHATI, Nov 5: As the United States of America votes in one of the most keenly-contested elections in American history, a village in Tamil Nadu has hogged the limelight as special pujas and religious ceremonies are being organized for the victory of present Vice-President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

A special puja ceremony was held at the Sri Dharma Sastha Sri Sevaka Perumaal Temple in Harris’ ancestral village of Thulasendrapuram in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu today (Nov 5) morning with villagers offering prayers for his victory in the US Presidential polls.

Along with the villagers, several supporters of Kamala Harris also arrived in the village from the USA.

Harris’ maternal grand-father PV Gopalan, it may be mentioned here, was born in Thulasendrapuram while her mother Shyamala Gopalan, a biomedical scientist, emigrated to the US in 1958.
