3 NSCN-K (Angmai) faction militants killed along Indo-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh: Three hardcore militants belonging to the NSCN-K (Angmai) faction were killed after a fierce gun battle broke out between security forces and a heavily armed group of militants at a remote location near the Indo-Myanmar border between Pongchau in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh and Longwa in Mon district of Nagaland on Sunday.

Security forces were conducting a search operation after a 15-member heavily-armed group from the NSCN-K (Angmai) faction abducted two persons of a construction firm from Pongchau on Friday night.

An encounter broke out between the Army and the militants leading to the deaths of the three militants.

The operation was which carried out on the basis of specific intelligence inputs provided by the Kolkata based Military Intelligence Unit and led by the 21 Para Special Forces of the Army.

Four automatic rifles were also recovered from the encounter site.

The bodies of the three slain militants, recovered by the security forces after the end of the encounter, has been handed over to Nagaland Police for identification and other formalities.

The abducted persons — Janlung Wangpan (35 yrs) of Longphong village in Longding district and Md. Giasuddin (26 yrs) a worker hailing from Assam’s Sribhumi district — are yet to be traced and could still be held captive by remaining members of the group.
