Arunachal CM orders probe into water tank collapse at Naharlagun school that killed 3 students

GUWAHATI, Dec 15: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the collapse of an overhead water tank at St Alphonsa School in Naharlagun in which three young students were killed while two others critically injured.

Khandu expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that those responsible for the mishap would face strict punishment.

The Chief Minister also announced ex-gratia financial support for the families of the deceased and assistance for the injured in accordance with government norms.

The tragic incident occurred yesterday (December 14) when a water tank at the school collapsed, trapping five children playing nearby under concrete debris.

Although the students were rushed to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), three of them succumbed to their injuries while the remaining two are in critical condition.
