Arrested Dhubri DSP sent to 5-day police remand

GUWAHATI: A special court in Guwahati sent Dhubri deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of border branch Jatin Kumar Das to 5-day police custody. Rafikul Parmanik who was arrested along with the Assam police DSP has also been sent to police remand for 5 days.

A case under 120(B)/409 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 7, 12 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered against the duo.

Assam Police arrested DSP Das on Monday for his alleged links with cattle smugglers, coal and drug rackets.

The top police officer allegedly took money from the smugglers and cartels to allow them to continue with their illegal trade.

Das and Parmanik will be produced in the court on June 5. Their mobile phones have also been seized for further investigation.
