Army Jawan Killed in Terrorist Encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Udhampur: A brave Indian Army soldier lost his life in a fierce encounter with terrorists in the Dudu-Basantgarh area of Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning. The gunbattle happened during a cordon and search operation that was launched after receiving specific intel about the presence of terrorists in the region.

The Army’s White Knight Corps shared the heartbreaking news, stating that the soldier was critically injured in the initial exchange of fire and later succumbed to his wounds despite all medical efforts. Operations are still going on to track down the terrorists hiding in the region.
This tragic incident has come just two days after a horrifying terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag, where 26 innocent tourists were killed. That attack shook the entire country and is being called one of the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama blast.
India has taken strong action in response to the Pahalgam attack. On Wednesday, the government downgraded diplomatic ties with Pakistan, expelled military attaches, suspended the decades-old Indus Water Treaty, and shut down the Attari land transit point. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security meeting and gave clear orders to maintain a tight vigil and bring the culprits to justice.
At the same time, the Romeo Force and the Special Operations Group (SOG) are carrying out a separate search operation for the 10th day straight in the Lasana forests of Poonch, where terrorists are believed to be hiding. This operation was also triggered after an exchange of fire earlier this month. The area has been sealed and security checks have been ramped up on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway.
Security forces are doing their best to ensure safety, checking vehicles, verifying IDs, and keeping the roads clear of possible threats. Authorities are on high alert, and people are being requested to stay cautious and report anything suspicious.
The loss of yet another braveheart is a painful reminder of the threats our soldiers face every day to protect us. The nation mourns this loss and stands firmly with our armed forces.
