Five more ACS-APS officials who were arrested in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam have been granted bail by Guwahati High Court. The court today (Oct 8) granted bail to Himangshu Choudhury, Kamal Debnath, Aniruddha Roy, Raju Sahu and Jayanta Nath taking the total number of arrested officials who were arrested in connection with the infamous cash-for-jobs scam to 17.

The court, however, reserved its order on the bail pleas of three other arrested accused — Nishamoni Deka, Joydev Mahanta and Pallabi Sarma Choudhury — till Thursday (Oct 11) following objections from the government.

It may be mentioned here that 12 other arrested ACS and APS officials, accused of bribing and influencing commission members to get jobs, were granted bail by Gauhati High Court last week.

Arrested ACS officers Badrul Islam, Dipak Khanikar, Sunaina Aideu, Sudipta Goswami, Gitali Doley and Rumi Saikia and APS officers Kunal Das, Sabira Imran and Dilip Kumar Kalita were granted bail by Gauhati High Court on Thursday. The court, however, imposed several conditions besides slapping bail bonds of Rs 1 lakh for each arrested accused who were in jail for over a year.
