All 19 arrested ACS, APS and allied-service officials, who were arrested by Dibrugarh Police yesterday after they were summoned for a handwriting verification test, have been remanded to police custody for 11 days.
The arrested officials were produced in the Special Guwahati Court this evening following which they were remanded to police custody for 11 days. Incidentally, Police had sought 14-day custody of the arrested officials who have been accused of bribing or influencing APSC officials, including arrested former chairman Rakesh Paul, to clear the recruitment test. The court, however, sent them to a 11-day police remand.

Meanwhile, the court also rejected the special bail plea of Pallabi Sharma, daughter of Tezpur Lok Sabha MP RP Sharma, who had sought bail citing the health of her father. The Tezpur MP is reported to undergo a kidney transplant surgery in a day or two.
