APSC cash-for-jobs scam: Notice to 21 ACS-APS officers

GUWAHATI: The cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) examination of 2013 has taken a new turn. The one-man judicial commission headed by retired judge Biplab Sarma has issued notice to 21 Assam Civil Services and Assam Police Services officers who are in service at the moment for their alleged involvement in the cash-for-job scam.

A set of questions have been sent by the commission that has to be answered in written by these civil servicemen. The commission has asked them to reply as soon as possible. After the receipt of written answers the civil servants will be then called for a face to face questioning, said sources.

The results of the 2013 APSC examination came out in 2015. Forensic reports had indicated anomalies in the actual answer scripts. The Gauhati High Court had directed the state government to set up a one-man judicial commission to look into the matter.

After the Biplab Sarma-led judicial commission found mismatch between tabulation and answer scripts it approached the court for further investigation. After the court’s permission, written statements have been asked from these 21 civil servants.
