In a significant development, 11 APS officers has been suspended in connection with the infamous APSC cash-for-jobs scam.
All the officers have been placed under immediate suspension according to a order passed by the Governor of Assam.
The eleven APS officers in question are –
- Dipankar Dutta Lahakar, APS, 21st APBN Hailakandi, ADDL SP
- Nitumoni Das, APS, ADDL SP, CRIME Bongaigaon
- Rumi Timungpi, APS, ASSAM POLICE HQ, ADDL SP
- Faruq Ahmed, APS, ADDL SP, HQ, South Salmara
- Kalyan Kumar Das, APS, ADDL SP, CRIME, Cachar
- Kuldeep Hazarika, APS, ADDL SP, CM VIGILANCE
- Nilanjal Gogoi, APS, ADDL SP, SB Kahilipara
- Nandini Kakoti, APS, ADCP, Guwahati Central district
- Anal Jyoti Das, APS, ADDL SP, HQ, Dima Hasao
- Shahjahan Sarkar, APS, ASPS, ADDL SP, CRIME, Jorhat
- Aishwarya Jeevan Bauah, APS, ADDL SP , Udalguri.
Earlier, on Thursday 4 ACS officers were also suspended for for their alleged anomalies in the selection process conducted by the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) during the Combined Competitive Examination, 2013.
The four suspended ACS officers has been identified as Smti. Akashee Duwarah, ACS, Addl. District Commissioner, Jorhat, Shri Dhrubajyoti Hatibaruah, ACS, Deputy Secretary to the. Govt. of Assam, lndigenous and Tribal Faith & Culture Department, Shri Hitesh Mazumdar, ACS, Addl. District Commissione4 South Salmara, Mankachar and Shri Dhiraj Kumar Jain, ACS, Deputy Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, Election Department & Joint CEO, Assam.
The ongoing investigation into criminal offenses related to the APSC cash for job scam has revealed that these officers benefited from irregularities by illegally increasing their marks, which allowed them to be recommended for appointment.
Based on the report of former Justice Biplab Kumar Sharma, all 15 have been suspended from their jobs.
The suspended officers are now being interrogated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Assam Police investigating the matter.
Meanwhile the SIT has summoned Dibrugarh Election Officer Dhiraj Kumar Jain and APS officer ADCP Sukanya Das for questioning today.
Earlier, the SIT team probing the cash-for-job scam had arrested Udalguri’s Additional Superintendent of Police Aishwarya Jeevan Barua and Jorhat’s Additional Superintendent of Police Shahjahan Sarkar.
