GUWAHATI, Oct 16: Guwahati Police have succeeded in cracking the sensational Anjan Nath murder with cops arresting six persons, including Anjan’s wife Geetashree, her parents and her alleged lover Sourabh Goenka, an Athgaon-based businessman.
Sourabh, police sources said, had shot Anjan from point black range at Khanapara on Thursday night following which he breathed his last at a local nursing home.
Police first arrested Sourabh Goenka along with two of his associates in the crime — Govinda Kumar and Arvinda Roy – on Sunday night besides detaining Gitashree Singh, along with her parents, Arijit Sinha and Jharna Sinha.
Sourabh, who has a dry fruits shop in Athgaon locality of Fancy Bazar, had met Gitashree when she was working at a parlour. Their friendship blossomed into love.
And with Gitashree’s parents disapproving of her marriage with Anjan following his weak financial condition and alcoholism-related issues, they reportedly planned to push Anjan out of their daughter’s life and, therefore, planned with Sourabh to kill him.
Sourabh, police sources said, executed it with the assistance of Govinda Kumar and Arvinda Roy. Police, meanwhile, seized the Yamaha MT 15 bike bearing registration number AS-01EB-3684 which was used by Sourabh the bike during the crime.
