Guwahati: Popular Bollywood and Assamese singer Angarag Mahanta, better known as Papon is back in an animated avatar in his new single, Nilaanjana. In the video, an animated Papon is seen declaring his love poetically amidst the scenic beauty of Assam.
The song is called Nilanjana and has been composed and sung by Papon. Penned by Jananjoy Saikia, the song’s video is directed by Parasher Baruah. The song was released on his YouTube channel.
Releasing the video Papon wrote, “This song and its video were made during the lockdown. I had the melody and structure made a year back but the words were written during the lockdown by Jananjoy from Sivasagar, Assam, while the guitars were played and sent to me by Suraj from Goalpara. The flute and the percussions were recorded at their respective homes by Paras and Sanket. The video was directed by Parasher over the phone from Mumbai while Manjit and Raktim, both Bokakhat boys executed it from Guwahati. I did the programming at home and Ayan mixed and mastered it from his studio”.
He also added, “This song is about how two lovers can just express themselves without talking and the nature around them enhances the expression and their thoughts through its metaphors and similes. The song depicts how the Pölaax flower, the kites in the sky, the butterflies, the breeze, the season of Phaagun … can augment feelings of love”.
“What’s special about this single is that apart from musical involvement, I or rather my animated avatar got to headline the music video in such an amazing way. Even the habitat created in the animation done by Manjit Gogoi captures the beauty of Assam; not to mention the brilliant direction executed by Parasher Baruah, who I’ve collaborated with for various projects. I am excited to know what listeners think of the song,” Papon added.
