American tourist detected with Coronavirus visted Jorhat, Majuli and Guwahati

GUWAHATI: An American tourist who has been detected with Coronavirus in Bhutan had travelled Assam a few days ago.

The 76-year old man visited various tourist places of the state.

He reached Bhutan on March 2 from Guwahati, Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering office confirmed in a statement.

According to reports, the American tourist visited Majuli and reached Guwahati through a cruise on the Brahmaputra.

He also stayed at Radison Blue Hotel in Guwahati. The places the American citizen visited in Assam include Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati and Jorhat town.

The US tourist reportedly arrived in Jorhat with his partner from Kolkata. He had entered Bhutan after embarking Drukair flight KB241 from Guwahati on March 2, according to Prime Minister’s Office – PMO, Bhutan’s FB page. 

The patient has been isolated in the COVID-19 hospital in Bhutan. He is kept on oxygen support considering his age and underlying conditions.

The patient was traveling with his partner, aged 59 along with 10 passengers on board, of which eight others were Indian nationals.
