All tea garden roads in Assam to be repaired and completed in next two years: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam health, finance, and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that all roads in tea gardens of Assam will be repaired within the next two years. The minister stated this in his speech in Khanapara at a government function on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, the Dr. Sarma said, “1,400 crore rupees have been spent for the construction of roads in the tea gardens in Assam and all the roads in each and every tea garden in Assam will be repaired and the pucca roads will be completed  within the next two years.”

 

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma further praised the tea garden workers for their hard work and also said that the tea garden workers are the reason Assam and Assam Tea is famous across the globe. “When we visit the United Kingdom, United States of America or other countries, we feel proud to see Assam Tea. Our Assam Tea is famous across the world and this has happened only because of the tea garden workers and their hard work. Our brothers are working hard in the tea gardens of Assam and their hard work is the reason the world knows about Assam,” the minister further said.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Rameshwar Teli, Minister of State for Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare Sanjay Kishan, Rajya Sabha, Member of Parliament (MP) Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and other dignitaries were present in the ceremonial distribution event.
