GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced a contingency fund of Rs. 2.5 lakh to all police stations in Assam.

Addressing a conference, “Redefining Policing Standards in Assam”, where Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of all police stations were present, the chief minister asked the men-in-uniform to use the funds for making the police stations a better place.

Keeping in mind some basic requirements for fulfilling their duties CM Sarma announced that the OCs will be provided one vehicle for their station and motorcycles will be provided to those stations that are inaccessible. Moreover, three computers will be provided for streamlining FIR filing and other activities. A power generator for each station will also be provided, stated the chief minister.

If land was available within the police station premises then residential quarters can be built for the OC and 3 Sub-inspectors, said the chief minister.

The chief minister will again meet the OCs in six months where they will have to submit their health report check-ups. The CM has asked them to do health check-ups every 15 days.
