AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam seeks apology for insulting Ahoms

GUWAHATI: After All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam’s controversial remarks against Ahom community sparked outrage among various sections of the society, Islam sought apology to the community today.

Dhing legislator Aminul Islam reached Guwahati office of All Tai Ahom Student’s Union(ATASU) today and sought apology for insulting the Ahom community. He also garlanded the statue of Chaolung Sukaphaa.

Islam triggered controversy after he had said, “Ahoms came from Yunnan province of China-Myanmar boder. That province was never a part of India. They came from a foreign land.”

Several indigenous bodies took to street to protest against the controversial remarks of the AIUDF MLA.
