Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has once again made India proud with her graceful presence at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. Dressed in a stunning ivory saree, adorned with traditional Indian jewellery and sindoor, she brought the perfect mix of elegance and desi royalty to the global red carpet.
Fans had been waiting eagerly for Aishwarya’s arrival, and she didn’t disappoint. Her saree, with a long pallu on one side and a lace trail on the other, captured everyone’s attention. As she walked the red carpet for the screening of The History of Sound, she folded her hands to greet with a namaste, waved at fans and even blew flying kisses, winning hearts with her smile and charm.
This marks Aishwarya’s 22nd red carpet appearance at Cannes. Her journey with the festival began in 2002 with Devdas, and she continues to shine each year as a global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.
Cannes 2025 is turning out to be a memorable one for Indian cinema. Director Neeraj Ghaywan’s film Homebound, featuring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor, received a 9-minute standing ovation at its world premiere under the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section. The team walked the red carpet together and received warm applause from the international audience.
Also making India proud, veteran actors Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal attended the screening of Satyajit Ray’s classic Aranyer Din Ratri under the Cannes Classics section. It was introduced by filmmaker Wes Anderson and received with a standing ovation after restoration by the Film Heritage Foundation.
Another proud moment came as Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia joined the main competition jury. This is her return to Cannes after making history last year by winning the Grand Prix for her debut film All We Imagine As Light.
Cannes 2025 is truly shining bright with Indian beauty, cinema, and talent, and Aishwarya Rai’s royal red carpet moment has added even more sparkle to it.
