AHSEC announces HS results, system of awarding ranks done away with

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC)has declared the Higher Secondary (HS) final examination 2024 results on Thursday (May 9) at 9 am.

This year, a total of 2,73,908 students appeared for the HS final examinations in the State. Out of which 2,42,794 students have passed in the examination.

A total of 72,925 students secured the first division, 91,106 students secured the second division and 78,691 students secured the third division.

Overall pass percentage in HS Final Exam 2024 – Arts stream: 88.24%, Commerce stream: 88.28%, Science stream: 90.29%, Vocational stream: 85.78%.

This year, the education landscape witnessed a notable shift with the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP), which ushered in changes including the discontinuation of the tradition of announcing individual toppers.

It is to be mentioned that for the first time in 37 years, AHSEC results have been declared without mentioning the rank holders.

ARTS STREAM

In the Arts stream Baksa district topped the charts with 97.44 pass percentage followed by Nalbari district with 97.03 pass percentage. Darrang district takes the third position with 96.59 pass percentage.

A total of 3,988 students appeared for the examination in Baksa district out of which 3,886 passed.

A total of 6,729 students appeared for the examination in Nalbari district out of which 6,529 passed.

In Darrang district, a total of 6,454 students had appeared out of which 6,234 students passed.

COMMERCE STREAM

In Commerce stream Sivasagar district topped the charts with 97.42 pass percentage, followed by Bajali and Baksa districts with 96.91 percent and 95.88 percent respectively

17,307 candidates participated in the Class 12 examinations. Of these, 5,915 students excelled with first division honors, 6,087 students attained second division, and 3,194 students demonstrated their competence with third division accolades.

SCIENCE STREAM

In Science stream Tamulpur district topped the charts with 97.98 pass percentage. Baksa and Jorhat districts follow with 95.89 percent and 95.04 percent respectively.

A total of 54,460 students appeared for the exams, achieving commendable success. Among them, 23,552 students secured first division, showcasing exceptional academic prowess. Furthermore, 17,339 students attained second division, while 8,062 students accomplished third division honors, reflecting a diverse spectrum of achievement levels within the cohort.

It is to be mentioned that for the first time in 37 years, AHSEC results have been declared without mentioning the rank holders.

Education Minister Ranoj Pegu shared information in a post on X and appreciated Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) for announcing results on time.

In his post, Pegu mentioned, “Congratulations! 88.64% students have passed. Arts (88.24%) Sc (90.29%) Com (88.28%) Voc (85.78%). 273908 students had appeared the exam; 242794 students have passed.
In 2023, results were declared on 6 June. I appreciate AHSEC for the results on timetime.

In a post on X, the Assam CM wrote, “Congratulations to all my young friends who have passed the Higher Secondary examination this year. Keep striving for excellence in the coming years.
For all those who couldn’t acheive the desired results, don’t be disheartened. Embrace determination, challenge your limits – you shall succeed❤️”
