Assam Finance, Health and PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Monday made a slew of announcements, including the government’s decision to relax the upper age limit for candidates applying for third and fourth grade government jobs in Assam to 44 years along with doing away with application fees for these two sections of job applicants.

2/ Also happy to announce that as per my Budget announcement, starting today we are abolishing treasury challans for appearing in Grade 3 & 4 posts in Assam Government. It means that unemployed youth are not required to pay any fee for appearing for such posts

The Assam Finance and Health Minister further announced the government’s decision to hike the salaries of contractual teachers from the existing Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
4/ It is also heartening to share that as per my promise in my Budget speech the salary of contractual teachers in our secondary schools would be increased from ₹ 15000 to ₹ 20000. This will benefit almost 7000 teachers.

Sarma also announced that foundation stone of the 19 cancer hospitals will be laid on June 17 and that Tata group chairman Ratan Tata will be attending the foundation-stone-laying ceremony. The Assam government and Tata Trust, incidentally, have floated a joint-venture called the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) with a corpus of Rs 2000 crore to set up 19 cancer care hospital in the State.

He also announced that the central government as well as the Dental Council of India have approved the Health department’s proposal to set up two new dental colleges in Assam. Two new dental colleges, the Assam Health Minister said, will be built in Dibrugarh and Silchar. The intake capacity of students will be fifty in each of the new institutions for the 2018-19 academic year.

The Assam Health Minister further said that over Rs 3.40 crore has been disbursed among 1,120 beneficiaries under the Atal Amrit Abhiyan in past one month.
