The 12504 Agartala-Bangalore Hum Safar Express derailed between Churaibari and Kalkalighat stations under Lumding division of Northeast Frontier Railway in Assam along Tripura on Tuesday, an NFR press release said here.
There was no causality in the incident, said the release issued by NFR chief public relations officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma.
Two wheels of the front trolley of engine got derailed at a location about 26 kms away from Karimganj station at 7.52 AM, the CPRO said.
The train was pulled back by a relief engine to Churaibari station in the Assam-Tripura border and passengers were provided with all necessary assistance, Sharma said.
An accident relief train immediately left from Badarpur for the site and the NFR additional general manager along with high officials have rushed to the spot, he said.
The accident relief train began work immediately after reaching the site and the derailed wheels of the engine were put back to normal position, he said.
The track was declared fit for train movement at 12.10 pm, the CPRO said, adding, cause of the accident is being investigated.
