After suspended SP Rajamohan Roy, absconding Executive Magistrate Ashirbad Hazarika surrenders, taken into custody by CID

PUBLISHED:

The probe into the rape and murder case of a 13-year-old girl in Dhekiajuli is picking up steam with Assam CID, investigating the spine-chilling case, arresting the then Superintendent of Police and the Executive Magistrate of Dalgaon Revenue Circle for a shoddy investigation to hush up the case and extend undue favour to the accused.

Hours after the arrest of suspended SP Rajmohan Roy, Executive Magistrate of Dalgaon Revenue Circle in Darrang district, Ashirbad Hazarika, surrendered before CID sleuths late on Thursday night. The due were later taken into custody.

The CID had summoned Hazarika in connection with the death case and was asked to appear before the investigating officer on November 9. He, however, failed to present himself.

Hazarika had in the inquest report stated that the minor girl’s death was a case of suicide without him being present at the spot when the incident had occurred.

Hazarika has been on the run after his name came up during the investigation before finally surrendering.

Prior to the arrest of the Darrang SP and the Dalgaon Executive Magistrate, Darrang ASP Rupam Phukan and three doctors of the Mangaldoi Civil Hospital — Dr. Arun Ch. Deka, Dr. Ajanta Bordoloi and Dr. Anupam Sharma – were arrested in connection with the death of the 13-year-old minor.

The three doctors were arrested for certifying the death of the minor girl as a case of suicide in the initial post-mortem report.
