GUWAHATI, Feb 28: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit which concluded on Feb 26 attracted investment proposals worth Rs 5,18,205 crore which, he said is approximately 80% of the State’s projected Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Rs 6.43 lakh crore.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma, who was speaking to media persons in Guwahati, said the summit could go on a long way in altering the State’s industrial and economic landscape for the better and emphasised his Government’s commitment in ensuring successful implementation of these proposals.

Dr Sarma further said that the government would now analyse each proposal and prepare a comprehensive roadmap so that the proposals are translated into a reality.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma further hoped the government would be able to achieve an 80 per cent implementation rate which, he said, will lead to the beginning of a new era of economic development in the State.

Chief Minister Dr Sarma further said the investment proposals should, by conservative estimates, generate at least 2 lakh jobs in the State.

Earlier in the morning, Dr Sarma visited the exhibition where MSMEs have set up stalls and interacted with the entrepreneurs.
