Prior to the celebration of Durga Puja, Assam Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya in a high-level meeting reviewed the law-and-order situation in Guwahati. The Minister has issued a few guidelines for peaceful and smooth celebrations of Durga Puja in Guwahati.

According to the guidelines, the administration will need to collect the idols, post immersion. Vehicles are restricted to enter the Puja mandaps, which includes vehicles of VVIP’s too. Bhattachatya also said that new parking spots must be fixed till Kali Puja. He further directed the administration to be strict about the traffic rules and regulations during the Puja occasion.
Emphasizing on installation of surveillance cameras at all the Puja mandaps in Guwahati, the Guwahati Development Minister said there must be walking areas on the Puja mandaps.
To avoid occurrence of disputes procession routes for the immersion of Durga idols will be fixed by the State government and the organisers will be accordingly informed. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation will dump garbage from the mandaps twice a day during the Puja days.
