Adarsha school at Murkongselek inaugurated by Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a CBSE affiliated Adarsh School at Murkongselek in Dhemaji district of Assam on Monday. The Education Minister also said that 20 schools are operationalized to date and five more will be functional in 2021.

“Adarsha Vidyalayas are designed to elevate the standard of education in 18 Educationally Backward Blocks. 20 schools are operationalized & 5 will get functional in 2021. Inaugurated one #CBSE affiliated Adarsh school at Murkongselek, Dhemaji with MP @PradanBaruah & MLA Bhuban Pegu,” tweeted Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“These model schools will follow the CBSE curriculum to create a competitive environment for the students. Even if these model schools will follow the CBSE curriculum, Assamese will be a compulsory subject for the students. More such schools will come up at Rangapara, 2 in Karbi Anglong, and other places. The school buildings are ready and soon we will do the inauguration,” said Dr. Sarma in a public gathering at Jonai.

“Meanwhile, the Central Government has sanctioned Rs. 3 crore 22 lakh and the Assam Government will provide Rs. 1 crore 5 lakh rupees for the construction of the Adarsha Vidyalayas,” he added.

It is to be mentioned that Adarsha Vidyalayas is a Model School Scheme that aims to provide quality education to talented rural children through setting up 6,000 model schools at the rate of one school per block as a benchmark of excellence.

The scheme has the following objectives:

  1. To have at least one good quality senior secondary school in every block.
  2. To have a pace-setting role
  3. To try out innovative curriculum and pedagogy
  4. To be a model in infrastructure, curriculum, evaluation, and school governance.

Lakhimpur BJP Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah, MLA Bhuban Pegu and other dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony.
