GUWAHATI: Assam minister of state for health and family welfare Pijush Hazarika took a jibe at newly-launched Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) saying that it has nothing novelty, but a ‘copy-paste.’
A day after All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) announced their political entity, minister Hazarika said, “A party with the same name Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) was formed in 1989. Yesterday, another party has been formed with the same name. BJP has slogan of ‘Har Har Modi, Ghar Ghar Modi.’ They have copied it and termed their slogan—Ghare Ghare Aami (We are in every household). Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is also there. They took the almost similar name to confuse people.”
Hazarika claimed that the new party had resorted to ‘copy-pasting’ due to their lack of confidence.
On the other hand, the minister alleged that the new party had deviated from its prime agenda—opposition of Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.
“On the first day of the formation of the party, their top leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that a regional party cannot repeal the CAA. We have never seen such a drastic change of stand within a day,” Hazarika said.
