GUWAHATI: University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on Monday in association with ‘Aadya’ introduced Sanitary Pad vending machines in the university premises in the Khanapara area of Guwahati.
The Aadya Sanitary Pad vending machines were installed on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021. Henceforth, one can easily get sanitary pads inside the university campus from the newly-installed vending machines.
USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque, Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, Assistant General Manager Sunita Rai were present at the launching ceremony.
Speaking on the Occasion USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque said,”Women Empowerment is very important for the societies development.” Hoque said that Women should get all rights and facilities like a man.
It is to be mentioned that in USTM 57 percent of the total students are female and 75 percent of the total employees in are female.
Following the event, a total of 10 Sanitary Pad vending machines were installed on the University campus.
