A New dawn in BTR: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday expressed joy for BJP’s win in 9 constituencies in the BTC election.

The minister Tweeted, “A New dawn in BTR.”

 

UPPL president Pramod Boro and Naba Kumar Sarania of Gana Suraksha Party(GSP) had a meeting with BJP leaders at minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s residence on Saturday.

It is to be mentioned that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has bagged 9 out of total 26 seats it had contested for. The nine victorious candidates of the BJP are: Arup Kumar Dey (Fakiragram), Abhiram Mahanayak (Thuribari), Gautam Das (Mathanguri), Dharma Narayan Das (Nagrijuli), Ranendra Narzary (Suklai Serfang), Bhabendra Baro (Khwirbwbari), Sanjit Tanti (Nonwi Serfang),  Diganta Barua (Mwdwibari) and Dipak Mour (Pasnwi Serfang).

On the other hand, Hagrama Mohilary-led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has won 17 seats in the 40-member Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election. While Pramod Boro-led United People’s Party Liberal (UPP) has emerged victorious in 12 seats. The Congress and Naba Sarania’s Gana Suraksha Party won only one seat each.

Talking to News Live, Pramod Boro said, “Yesterday we had a courtesy meet with the BJP leadership. The political issues will be discussed today.”

“The people of the BTR wanted changes. I would like to ensure the changes by forming a new government. We have already prepared a modality for the development of the BTR,” he added.
