GUWAHATI: Keeping the promise made in recently-concluded Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, Assam, health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday laid the foundation stone of a Government Model College at Kumarikata, Tamulpur in Baksa district.
Sarma laid the foundation stone of the college in the presence of minister Bhabesh Kalita, BTC chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro and former Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Sarma laid foundation stone of another Government Model College at Koila Moila in Chirang district. Similar college will come up in Udalguri district also.
On the other hand, in order to improve the road connectivity, minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of a bridge to be constructed on Barama-Dhamdhama-Tamulpur Road under the State-Owned Priority Development (SOPD) scheme.
“This bridge worth Rs 29.7 cr will protect people here from the threats of Pagladia River due to erosion & ensure connectivity for 365 days,” Sarma tweeted.
