Guwahati: Assam Education Department has issued new set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for reopening of Schools in state from January 1.
According to the new SOP, Class 1 to 5 will start classes on alternate days, Classes of 1, 2 and 3 standards will be conducted on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. On the other hand, classes of 4, 5, and 6 standards will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
The SOP further mandates the issued guidelines for government and private institutions equally. It states that schools will open at 09:00 AM and end at 01:45 PM. Mid-day meals will be provided between 12:15 PM to 12:45 PM in government schools.
School premises will be sanitized once a week and it is not mandatory for students to attend classes. Students may attend school after proper consent from their parents or guardians.
There will be no changes in the classes for students of Class 6 and above. Previous guidelines will be followed for them.
