GUWAHATI: Union home minister Amit Shah has complimented Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for exceptionally doing well in managing COVID-19.
“Assam has done exceptionally well in managing COVID-19 and my compliments to health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The 0.47% mortality rate is among lowest in the world,” Shah said in his speech at Amingaon in Kamrup district of Assam.

Reiterating BJP’ commitment to preserve the culture and laguages of Assam, the union home minister alleged that the Congress party did nothing for the birthplace of famous social reformer and spiritual leader Srimanta Sankardeva.
Congress didn’t do anything for the birthplace of Sankardeva whose contributions gave recognition to Assam’s history, drama writing, arts and poetry. But BJP believes in strengthening of language, culture, arts of the state,” Shah said.
“Bhupen Hazarika has been a symbol of our cultural prowess. By conferring him Bharat Ratna, honourable prime minister Narendra Modi has given him the due recognition,” he said further.
