Itanagar: For the second consecutive day Arunachal Pradesh reported more COVID-19 recoveries than fresh cases as 79 people were cured of the disease while 20 new infections pushed the tally to 15,812, a health department official said on Monday.
With 79 more people getting cured of COVID-19, the total number of recoveries rose to 14,500.
The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state climbed to 91.70 per cent while the death ratio stands at 0.38 per cent, State Surveillance Officer (SSO), Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Arunachal Pradesh currently has 1,264 active cases, while 48 people have so far died of the infection.
Of the 20 new COVID-19 cases, five cases each were reported from the Capital Complex region and Upper Siang, four from Lower Dibang Valley, three from Tawang, two from West Kameng and one from Longding, the official said.
Two Army personnel and two health care workers were also among the fresh infection, the SSO said.
“All the new infections were detected through rapid antigen tests,” Dr Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate in the state currently stands at 8.30 per cent.
Barring four, all new patients are asymptomatic and have been shifted to Covid Care Centres, he said.
The Capital Complex region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 780, followed by West Kameng (76), East Siang (61) and Lower Dibang Valley (51), Dr Jampa said.
The state has so far tested 3,42,450 samples for COVID-19, including 522 on Sunday, the SSO added. PTI
