Sikkim gets India’s first skywalk

GUWAHATI: If you have a dream of strolling on a glass walk, then you don’t need to visit any foreign country as Sikkim has introduced the first-ever glass sky walk in Pelling, West Sikkim.

Quarantine days- Apne Desh ko Jano Pelling skywalk is the first Glass skywalk in whole of India. Pelling is a small hill town located in western Sikkim which never stops amazing tourists with its natural beauty and memerizing views. Now with the addition of Fourth tallest statue and India’s First Glass Sky Walk, pelling has become most hyped destination of Sikkim. . . The Sky Walk is a transparent structure made of glass. It is located adjacent to the giant Chenrezig statue. “Chenrezig” is a manifestation of all the Buddha’s compassion. His name means “One Who Looks with an Unwavering Eye.” . . Launched in 2018, the pilgrim site houses the world’s tallest Chenrezig statue along with and the accompanying glass skywalk, a cafe and a gallery.

Located at 7,200 ft above sea level, the skywalk will provide an exquisite view of the gorgeous Chenrezig statue and the skywalk will lead you to golden prayer wheels on both sides and give you a panoramic view of the beautiful Himalayas.

The statue of Chenrezig has been constructed at a cost of Rs 46.65 crore. The project was funded and constructed under the supervision of the Sikkim’s Department of Culture and the Department of Housing Buildings and Housing.

It is to be mentioned that the tourist site will be open for visitors from 8 AM to 5 PM every day and the entry ticket price is Rs. 50 per head. The site is almost 2.5 km from Pelling in Sikkim.
