GUWAHATI: Congress MLA from Mariani Rupjyoti Kurmi has claimed that he is capable to be the chief minister of Assam.
Talking exclusively to News Live, Kurmi expressed his confidence that Congress would form the next government in Assam. Therefore, he demanded that the next chief minister should be from the tea-garden community.
“I have gathered at least some knowledge about many burning issues of Assam. I hope I will be able to solve those issues. So, I consider myself as capable to be CM,” Kurmi said.
He stated that the tea tribe of Assam needs proper representation in the politics as the community has immense contribution towards multiple fields of the state.
The Congress legislator also said that he has travelled extensively to understand the problems and issues of the people.
