Can’t name party Raijor Dal without people’s consent: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati:  Taking a dig at the newly-formed political party ‘Raijor Dal’ Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that no political party can address themselves as Raijor Dal.

Speaking to the media in Barpeta Dr. Sarma said, “No political party can address themselves as Raijor Dal until and unless the people call the party as Raijor Dal (People’s Party). The people recognize a party by voting, and choose the party as Raijor Dal or Amar Dal, so, no one can actually call themselves as Raijor Dal without the approval of the people.”

After AASU and AJYCP formed the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) recently, it was Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) that announced its new political party Raijor Dal on Friday, 2 October.

Incidentally days after the party was formed, fissures have already started developing with the lower Assam unit of Bir Lachit Sena, one of the constituents of the party, severed ties with it.
