GUWAHATI: In another case of suspected witch-hunting, two people were brutally killed by a mob at Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The local residents suspected them of practicing witchcraft and a kangaroo court decided to kill them—a 50-year-old widow and a 28-year-old man. They were killed and their bodies were brunt.
The villagers suspected a woman as a witch after a girl had died of illness. The village had a kangaroo court on Wednesday where the decision was made to kill the woman. The villagers started to attack the 50-year-old woman.
A teacher who tried to forbid was also killed by the errant mob.
Meanwhile, nine persons from the village, including three women involved in the killings, have been arrested.
