GUWAHATI: Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Anowar Ali, driver of absconding former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Prasanta Kumar Dutta. Investigating officers of CID have been interrogating Anowar about the whereabouts of PK Dutta, the prime accused in the Assam Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam.
Anowar Hussain has been working as the driver of the former cop for last several years.
Dutta has been absconding since Wednesday after his involvement in the scam had come to light.
On the other hand, Jaidev Baruah, a resident of Chandmari of Guwahati was arrested from Tinsukia. Baruah was looking after the business of the former DIG. The tainted cop owned an empire of disproportionate assets across the state.
