GUWAHATI: A specialist from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi arrived in Guwahati to look after former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s health who is being treated at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Dr. Ananta Mohan, a pulmonary medicine specialist of the AIIMS reviewed Gogoi’s health condition at the GMCH.
“Our honourable ex-CM had an exchange with the doctor. Prof. Mohan expressed satisfaction with the line of our treatment,” said a GMCH official.
Earlier on Friday, AIIMS director Randeep Guleria reviewed the health condition of the former Assam chief minister through a video conference. The medical team of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) briefed him the condition of the former chief minister who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Thursday.
Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, health department principal secretary Samir K Sinha, Lok Sabha MP and Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi also attended the video conference.
On Thursday morning, the veteran leader was shifted to the ICU at the GMCH after his health condition had deteriorated.
Gogoi was admitted to the GMCH on August 26 after he was found positive for COVID-19. Since then he has been undergoing treatment at the GMCH though he had tested COVID-19 negative.
