GUWAHATI: Assam’s BJP MLA Mihir Kanti Shome who represents Udharbond constituency tested COVID-19 positive on Friday.
“Today Cachar district administration did my swab test. My report has come positive,” MLA Shome said in a Facebook post on Friday.
He was admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hopspital (SMCH) for treatment.
“Don’t panic, everyone follow the norms,” the legislator further added.
Earlier several top politicians of the state including—former Congress minister and Samaguri MLA Rakibul Hussain, Laharighat Congress MLA and former health minister Dr. Nazrul Islam, Assam Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Aminul Haque, MLAs Krishnendu Paul, Bolin Chetia, Narayan Deka, Nabanita Handique and Atul Bora (Senior) were also infected with COVID-19.
